Principal's Weekly Update
Dear Families
30 Years Service
On Wednesday, we had the occasion to celebrate 30 years of service to Catholic Education by Jacqui Doolan, one of our Year 6 teachers. Incredibly, for 28 years that service has been to the St Joseph’s community. Thank you Jacqui for sharing your wisdom over that time and we hope that you are able to continue to support us for many years to come.

Year 6
This term marks the end of a seven year journey of Catholic primary schooling for our Year 6 students. They have contributed much to the school community over that time and are valued leaders of our school. Please keep them in your prayers as they commence this transition of closing one chapter of learning and opening the next.
With Christ We Live, Love and Learn

Student Attendance
A bright future for our students starts with good attendance levels, every day. Attendance alone doesn’t guarantee positive outcomes for students; however, positive outcomes are less likely to occur without good attendance.
Education is a partnership between the school and the home. Our attendance goal is a minimum of 90% or more of students attending 90% of more of the time, along with 0% unexplained absences.
To notify the school of student absences, call 4038 5100 and select 1 for Student Absences or email secretary.parramatta@cns.catholic.edu.au. Absences can also be logged through the MyCE app.

2025 Sacramental Program
Parents of children in Grades 4,5,6 (in 2025) who have been baptised in the Catholic Church and who have not yet received the Sacraments of Penance (Reconciliation), Confirmation and Eucharist (First Holy Communion) are invited to enrol their child/children in the Parish Sacramental Program 2025.
If you wish your child to receive these sacraments for the first time, please send an expression of interest by email to: sacraments.ppparish@cairns.catholic.org.au requesting an Enrolment Form and providing a copy of your child’s Baptism Certificate (scan/email).
Enrolments need to be completed by 6 th December, 2024.
Sacrament preparation sessions will commence at the start of Term 1, 2025.

2025 Music Program
As we approach the end of the year, our Instrumental Music program are looking at recruiting for 2025. During the last weeks of last term, the students of grade 3 had brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments demonstrated to them, and the year 2’s were treated to a demonstration of string instruments. Students were given an expression of interest form to take home and we would encourage you to have a chat with your child about learning an instrument.
On the 09th of October we are hosting a parent info night at the school where all the information needed for lessons will be discussed. We encourage parents to come along and ask any questions they may have. Music is a great tool to not only foster a child’s creativity, but also develop their literacy and numeracy skills. If your child didn’t bring home an expression of interest form for whatever reason, and they change their mind about learning an instrument or you would like them to give it a try, please contact Mr Chandler via his email (mchandler@cns.catholic.edu.au) and he will happily send you a form and answer any questions you may have.
