Joey's News - Week 2
From the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
Today we had our Welcome Assembly at the new assembly time of 2pm – photos will be in next week’s newsletter. I spoke about my expectations for all students – Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Ready to Learn. While it is simple sounding, we believe that they contain everything that underpins our values “The St Joseph’s Way”– Learning, Love, Community and Respect and will propel us from being a good school to a great school...We have already had our resident DJ ‘Ali Mac’ put it to music.
You will have noticed a name change with our newsletter from “The PWU” (Principal’s Weekly Update) to “Joey’s News”. This is to reflect the community nature of the newsletter with input coming from multiple sources for a wide audience – students and parents. At this stage there is no intention to change the style/frequency but hope to see a broader range of updates from what is happening around the school.
With Christ, We Live, Love and Learn

Sacred Spaces - News from your APRE

As we settle into the new school year, I wanted to take a moment to warmly welcome you all. It has been wonderful to see the energy and enthusiasm of our students as they reconnect with friends, meet their teachers, and embrace new learning opportunities.
As Assistant Principal – Religious Education (APRE), I feel privileged to journey alongside our students, staff, and families in fostering a community grounded in faith, hope, and love.
Throughout the year, we will gather in prayer, celebrate important liturgical events, and engage in acts of service that reflect the St Joseph’s Way of love, learning, community and respect as Jesus showed us.
I encourage you to be part of these moments, whether through attending school events, supporting social action initiatives, or simply sharing conversations at home.

YEAR OF JUBILEE - Called to be Pilgrims of Hope
Last year, on 24 December, Pope Francis opened the doors of St Paul's Basilica, marking the beginning of the Jubilee Year with its theme, "Pilgrims of Hope". This same theme will guide our celebrations at St. Joseph’s throughout the year.

Watch the new Andrew Chinn song, created for the Jubilee Year - You might recognise some amazing St Joseph's students who made their international debut.
OPENING BLESSING LITURGY - Come join us!
Everyone is welcome to join us in the school hall as we welcome in our new year, bless our community and present our new Senior class with their badges. Our celebration will begin at 9 am.
May this year be one of joy, connection, and a deep sense of community for us all.
Many Blessings,
Robyn Chambers, APRE
Highlights of the Week
Wild Weather - Uploading photos from lunch
Heavy rain and high tides early in the week transformed the front of the school into our own wetland habitat. Thankfully, a break in the rain and some much needed sun allowed students to fully utilise the oval and playground towards the end of the week.

Welcome Assembly and Awards
On Friday we welcomed new and returning students back to the school at our first Assembly of the year, at our new time of 2pm. Photos of the assembly and our award recipients will be available next week.
Staff Farewell
During assembly, we farewelled Carmel Buckley after 19 years of teaching at St. Joseph's. We thank Carmel for her dedication to the St. Joseph's community and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
