Joey's News - Week 4
From the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Families
As most would be aware, this year we changed our reading program to Multilit, and I am please to say that we are starting to see some early signs of improvement when we look at the data. As a school, the only formal homework that we insist every child engages in is reading every day – 30mins. Whether it is your child reading independently (older grades), you reading to your child or your child reading to you. I see reading as the foundational skill that allows students to access all aspects of learning.
Joey’s Community Connect ~ JCC Notice of AGM
Next week Wednesday 26th February the JCC will hold its AGM at 5.30pm in The Treehouse (library). All parents and carers are invited to attend, and a parent slip has been sent out for RSVP. There is the ability to be part of the meeting online via Teams which can be nominated in your response.

Sacred Spaces - News from your APRE

As we celebrate the Jubilee Year of Hope, our students have been reflecting on their dreams and aspirations, adding their hopes to our Tree of Hope. I've loved seeing the world through their eyes.
From hoping to become better readers or great tennis players to wishing for peace in the world and for everyone to have what they need, their words remind us of the power of hope. Together, as Pilgrims of Hope, they are striving for a future filled with love, learning, community and respect.

INTRODUCTION TO LENT & PROJECT COMPASSION - Pray, Fast and Give
Well done to our Faith Life and Social Action & Justice Mercy Leaders for educating our community on the significance of Lent and the importance of supporting those in need through Project Compassion. For their first fundraising initiative, they invite students to wear or accessorise in purple on Ash Wednesday (5 March) and bring a gold coin donation.

PANCAKE PREPARATIONS
A gentle reminder that on Tuesday 4 March, we will be acknowledging Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday by providing each student with one homemade pikelet-sized pancake. Please note that our standard pancakes contain gluten, dairy, and eggs. If your child has dietary requirements, we will have a gluten-free option available upon request. If you haven’t already done so, please ensure you have completed this form to help us with catering.
BEGINNING THE CHURCH SEASON OF LENT
We would love you to join us for our Ash Wednesday Prayer Service (Liturgy) at St. Joseph's Church. Everyone will be invited to receive ashes as a sign that we want to say sorry for our wrong choices and use the 40 days of Lent to right wrongs before Easter is celebrated with great joy.
