Joey's News - Week 1 - Term 2
From the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Families
Today, we commemorated ANZAC Day with a liturgy led by our Yr 4 Team. It was a wonderful tribute to all Defence Force and Service Personnel, both past and present. Tomorrow I will join our student leaders Layla Johnson and Lex Otto in laying a wreath on behalf of the St Joseph’s community at the Dawn Service on the Esplanade.
During the liturgy I talked about the concept of mateship and while it can be traced back to colonial times, it became a significant part of Australian culture during WWI with the ANZACs. The concept derives from the environment in which people found themselves meant that they closely relied on each other for all sorts of help. In Australia, a 'mate' is more than just a friend and is a term that implies a sense of shared experience, mutual respect and unconditional assistance, not dissimilar to the unconditional love (Agape ~ the highest form of love, charity) that Jesus talks about in the Gospels.
It is significant that ANZAC Day falls so closely to Easter with both reflecting the theme of self-sacrifice for others or to put it in another way, putting other people’s needs before your own regardless of the personal (negative)impact. I encourage everyone to pause tomorrow to reflect on those people who have shown self-sacrifice in the spirit of the ANZACs and offer a prayer of gratitude for them.
With Christ, we live, love and learn

News from the JCC
Important Information for Term 2

In Term 2, our school will be transitioning to a new student academic reporting solution. Named The Learning Dashboard (TLD), the new system will bring some small changes from look and feel of the current Parent Portal.

Some of the benefits of the new solution include:
- TLD will follow your student across CEDC schools (primary and secondary), enabling you to maintain visibility of academic reports throughout their school years.
- TLD is designed as a web interface rather than a PDF document. This enables an improved viewing experience on all platforms and devices (smart phone, IPad, Laptop).
- The solution also supports the ability to create a PDF copy of the report for your records.
We’ll be providing you with more information next Term regarding when and how you’ll be accessing the new solution.
Mother's Day Photos
This year, Year 1 will be leading our annual Mother's Day assembly, where students eagerly await to see if an image of them and their Mum or female caregiver lights up the PowerPoint presentation. We want to ensure that your child doesn't miss out on this special moment! 😊
Please submit a photo of your child/ren with their Mum or female caregiver to the office by Friday, 2 May. Creating this presentation takes time, so we kindly ask for your cooperation.
Do: Email 1 x landscape photo or 1 x landscape collage (no more than 3-4 photos in the collage) to secretary.parramatta@cns.catholic.edu.au
By: Fri, 2 May
Ask: If you have questions, contact Stace at the school office at 4038 5100
*Please note that there will be no awards handed out at this assembly.
