Joey's News - Week 2 - Term 2
From the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
As we enter the two “long terms”, some people can become complacent with consistent attendance at school and justify it with “its only one day” or “I don’t think they’re doing much in class today”. The reality is that attendance matters and as can be seen in the chart below it can quickly add up. Imagine trying to complete Yr 12 while in Yr 5 (40% attendance) your chance of success regardless of your pathway would be very limited. While some absence is inevitable, I encourage all families to ensure that their child’s absence is in their best interests both in the short and long term.

Similarly, late arrival and early departure impacts student learning and outcomes.
Parents and carers are reminded of our late arrival and early departure processes. School hours are 8.35am to 3pm.
Late Arrival
- Students who arrive before 9am are to attend the front office, sign in and receive a late slip to present to their teacher
- After 9am students are to attend the front office, sign in and receive a late slip to present to their teacher. Additionally, parents are required to notify the school of the lateness preferably the day before or prior to 8.35am at the latest.
Early Departure
- Parents are to notify the school the day before that their child will be leaving early the following day and what time. Where this is not possible, as much notice on the day of is appreciated.
- Parents need to collect their child and are to attend the office and sign out their child and wait for them to come to the office. When we are notified in advance, the office will arrange with the teacher to have your child at the office at the organised time. Alternatively, when not notified, the office staff will arrange your child to come down to the office to meet you, please do not go to the Habitat to personally collect them.
Under no circumstances are parents and carers to attend Habitats between 8.35am and 3pm as this creates a safety risk as well as disrupts the flow of learning in the habitat.
With Christ, we live, love and learn
