Joey's News - Week 9 - Term 2
From the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
End of School Day & Stop Drop Go
School leadership has a growing concern regarding student safety at the end of the day. Between the pack up bell (2.55pm) and the dismissal bell (3pm), we are finding there are more and more students running out to their waiting cars – in the Stop, Drop Go zone and, in some cases, taking off from their parents inside the gates to collect them. Our fear is with the younger grades that one of them is going to run in front of a moving car or trip and fall in front of a moving car. For staff it is a complex 5 min supervision with adults and excited students moving around just inside the gates – determining which students have an adult with them and who doesn’t.
Moving forward, all parents and carers are always welcome into our school. Can we please ask the following:
- If you as a parent or carer are arriving to collect your child inside the gates before 3pm, please ensure that you close the gate behind you should no one be following.
- The gate is to remain closed until Leadership arrives for their Stop, Drop, Go duty.
- When exiting, please ensure that your child is by your side (close enough to touch without stretching) or preferably holding your hand, I understand that this can be difficult with older children.
- Parents and Carers in cars in the Stop Drop Go zone, I ask for your support in reiterating to your children that there is NO RUNNING IN THE STOP, DROP, GO ZONE AT ANY TIME. Additionally, please understand the children walking to cars will not be allowed outside of the gates until their name is called after the 3pm bell.
- Students will leave at the Habitats when the 2.55pm bell has sounded and move to the front and seated in their area until collected by their parent/carer or their name is called. For reference, students sit in the following areas:
- Prep & Yr 4 sitting in the middle – extending down the covered walkway
- Yr 3, Yr 1& Yr2 on the office side of the gate
- Yr 5 & 6 seated on the hall side of the gate
With Christ, we live, love and learn
