Joey's News - Week 4 - Term 3
From the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
I really enjoy my morning gate duty with the good mornings to students and parents. The high fives and fist pumps with the Preppies when the first bell goes while they wait for their teachers Miss Earle and Mrs Woods, along with Ms Nikki, Ms Angela and Ms Lisa is always a highlight and a great way the start the day. It reminds me why I got into teaching and why I remain in it.
I want to also do a shout out to our JCC who continue to work tirelessly for our school. They are doing amazing work behind the scenes with getting our Fete ready for next Friday – 15/8 and I encourage everyone to come along as it promises to be another sensational event put on by our parents for all families. It starts at 5pm and finishes at 8pm. There will be rides, activities, food stalls and Joey’s Got Talent - something for everyone. So, check the advertising posters, bring your picnic blankets and enjoy a wonderful community event.
With Christ, we live, love and learn

Plastic Free August

This week we start plastic free August, please try to reduce the amount of plastic in children's lunchboxes. One way to do this is to use small containers rather than zip lock bags. We also encourage the use of reusable water bottles as opposed to juice boxes or poppers.

Scholastic Book Fair
Joey's Annual Scholastic Book Fair begins next Wednesday 13th August. Students will have the opportunity to create their wish list during their class library visit. When they bring this home we ask you to go online and purchase any books you desire. Complete the payment form including the receipt number and amount paid. This form must be returned to the library during the Fair to collect the books OR used to order more copies of the books. Parents are also welcome to visit the fair in person before and afterschool. Please note though, that all payments for books or orders must be made online. We cannot take any payments at school.
The Joey's book fair will open to parents on the following days/times: Week 5 Wed 13 Aug - Fri 15 Aug 8:00-8:30 am & 2:50-3:30pmWeek 6 Mon 18 Aug - Wed 20th Aug 8:00-8:30 am & 2:50-3:30pm
Every book purchased = resources for our school library!
Books range in price from $5 to $30
There are 3 copies of each title (+ one kept for display) - once those copies are sold, if needed, we will then order more copies from Scholastic which will arrive within 2 weeks.

St Joseph's School Fete - A Family Picnic Evening
This year, instead of our usual full school fete, we’re hosting a Family Picnic Evening – a relaxed night of fun, food, and community on Friday, 15 August from 5–8pm. There’ll be rides for the kids, food vans, and space to unwind together – so bring a picnic rug or chairs and join the fun!
To keep things simple and sustainable, we've made the thoughtful decision to hold the major fete every second year, with more casual events like this picnic in between.
Our fundraising this year focuses on a new school playground, as well as fresh signage and a community mural – exciting projects that will benefit our whole school.
If you'd like to volunteer on the night, please do so via the link below.
