Joey's News - Week 6 - Term 3
From the Principal

Dear Parents, Carers and Families,
This week I had the opportunity to attend the National Catholic Education Commission (NCEC) Conference here in Cairns. It provided me and other members of the leadership team the opportunity to listen to speakers from around the world, as well as connect with colleagues from around Australia.
There were many highlights, but one of the main ones was being able to join Yr 5 students for the Conference Mass, where 1000 students joined 1450 delegates to celebrate Catholic Education. We were also well represented in the student choir.
The week has also been a busy week at school with Book Week (on the back of Science Week) as well as students representing the school in hockey and netball. I want to take the opportunity to thank our PE specialist ~ Taryn Greenwood with organising and coordinating our many teams that have attended the various gala days as well as all of the staff and parents who have supported her.
With Christ, we live, love and learn

Stewardship News - Plastic Free August
A BIG shout-out to our wonderful Joey's Cafe Convenors - Mio and Evelyn, who have embraced the spirit of Plastic-free August. Upon recommendations from our Stewardship Mercy Leaders - Aila, Zoey & Ava, they made some immediate changes to the way they prepare and deliver our lunch orders. Mrs Hooton & Mrs Lake have now switched from using plastic wrap to paper, when wrapping all fresh sandwiches and wraps. We are working with them to find other solutions as well, for example, what we can use to wrap our icy poles instead of plastic wrap.
Thank you Mrs Hooton and Mrs Lake! What can you do at home to support plastic-free August and help our environment?
