Bishop Joseph Caddy
Last Thursday, I had the privilege along with our school Leaders Zani Robinson and Cayden Conners to attend the ordination of our new Bishop Joe Caddy. It was a wonderful service which will be remembered for many years - the last one was 30 years ago for Bishop Emeritus James Foley. The ordination of Bishop Joe is significant for the leadership of the Cairns Catholic Diocese. We look forward to welcoming Bishop Joe to St Joseph’s in the coming months.

We would love your help with the cake and sweet stall this year. This stall is always a
massive hit thanks to the generous donations of baked goods. We would love you and your

- Prepare baked goods
- Collect your packaging from the school office between Thursday 22 August -
Friday 30 August between 8.20am - 9.00am. Please come in and collect what you
may need - Label the baked goods with a list of ingredients used
- Deliver to the staff room on the morning of the fete

Your family's lucky door prize ticket is going home with your eldest child in the
Week of the fete (Week 8). The entry must be placed in the barrel at the fete. You also
must be present for the draw at 7:30pm to claim the cash prize of $200.
Entertainment Options
The Fete Program will be sent home next week! It lists the entertainment lineup and stall

Joey's Got Talent Show. Please watch, cheer on and support our St Joeys students.
Food Vans
This year the food vans are Tonys Pizza, Greek Street Food Inc, Smoke ‘n’Steel the Donut
Shack and Café One Coffee Van. Each food van has various options. There should be
something to satisfy everyone.
Cash/ EFTPOS
While this year we have secured an EFTPOS machine which will be located at the bar for
purchases, we do encourage the use of cash at all our stalls please.

Parish Masses
Parish masses are held at St. Joseph's church twice per week at the following times:

Queensland Road Safety Week
This year’s Queensland Road Safety Week runs from 26 – 30 August 2024, with the theme ‘We’re
One Team Queensland. Let’s drive like it’.
The safety of our students, parents and carers, and staff is paramount, and we all have a role to play.
Students become road users at an early age as pedestrians, scooter or bike riders, and are our future
drivers. Influencing positive road safety attitudes can never start too young.
We’re asking everyone to consider how you can act as One Team Queensland on the roads:
• Is it leaving 5 minutes early to beat the school rush?
• Is it walking the extra distance to use the school crossing?
• Is it demonstrating courteous driving by giving a wave when someone lets you merge in front
of them?
St. Joseph's is proud to be supporting this year’s Queensland Road Safety Week because we want
our school community to get home safe so you can be there for the ones you love.
